Stevenson Search Partners is pleased to announce the appointment of John Canning to Chief Operating Officer at Femasys, a leading biomedical innovator focused on making fertility and non-surgical permanent birth control more accessible and cost-effective for women worldwide.
Mr. Canning is a global medical device executive with more than 25 years of experience leading operations, product development, and technology organizations. He joins Femasys at a pivotal stage of commercial expansion, bringing a demonstrated ability to scale global organizations, advance product pipelines, and drive operational excellence in support of growth.
Most recently, Mr. Canning served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Terumo Aortic, where he led global operations, R&D, clinical, regulatory, and intellectual property functions. Mr. Canning also spent more than 14 years at Bolton Medical, ultimately serving as Chief Operating Officer. He began his career as a research engineer at Baxter International Inc. followed by Medtronic Vascular. He has guided multiple global product approvals and indication expansions and is a named inventor on 44 issued patents in the field of endovascular aortic repair.
Mr. Canning holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The College of New Jersey and has completed executive programs at MIT Sloan and Harvard Business School.
