Stevenson Search Partners is pleased to announce the appointment of Antonin de Fougerolles (Tony), PhD to Chairman of the Board of Directors at Matrisome Bio. Matrisome Bio is a therapeutics company developing a new class of therapies that target the extracellular matrix (ECM) of tumors and metastases to deliver payloads while sparing normal tissues.
Dr. de Fougerolles is a pioneering biotech leader who has fundamentally shaped modern medicine through his instrumental role in developing and advancing three entirely new drug modalities to market: RNAi, mRNA, and single-domain antibodies. With over 20 years of experience building drug pipelines from early discovery through regulatory approval, he brings deep expertise in scaling innovative biotechnology companies.
Most recently, Dr. de Fougerolles served as Chief Executive Officer of Evox Therapeutics, where he is developing exosome therapeutics as a transformative drug modality. Prior to Evox, he was Chief Scientific Officer at Ablynx, where he led all non-clinical R&D operations and contributed to the approval of caplacizumab, the first single-domain antibody drug. As the founding Chief Scientific Officer at Moderna Therapeutics, Dr. de Fougerolles pioneered modified mRNA as a therapeutic modality for rare diseases and vaccines. His earlier career includes serving as Chief Scientific Officer at Tolerx Inc. and Vice President of Research at Alnylam, where he helped develop RNAi as a therapeutic modality, including overseeing the development of the first approved RNAi delivery system and several RNAi drugs.
Dr. de Fougerolles has been Principal Investigator on over$80 million in grants, has over 60 scientific publications, and is an inventor on over 100 issued U.S. patents. He earned his PhD in Immunology from Harvard University and his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University.
