Stevenson Search Partners is pleased to announce the appointment of Emma Johnson to Senior Principal in the Biotechnology team at M Ventures.
M Ventures is the strategic, corporate venture capital fund of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, investing in biotechnology and technology. The firm covers areas including healthcare drug development, life science tools, electronics, and frontier technology and sustainability.
Ms. Johnson joins M Ventures as an accomplished venture capital investor with a track record of identifying and supporting breakthrough biotechnology companies from early stages through regulatory approval. Recognized for her contributions to the UK biotech ecosystem, she brings deep expertise in healthcare and life sciences investing, with particular strength in evaluating and advancing early-stage innovations.
Most recently, Ms. Johnson served as Senior Investment Manager at the British Business Bank, the UK government's economic development bank, where she led direct investments in the healthcare and life sciences sectors. During her tenure, she directed eleven financing rounds ranging from Series A through Series C for innovative biotech companies including NRG Therapeutics, Grey Wolf Therapeutics, Purespring Therapeutics, and Tenpoint Therapeutics, and held Board of Director and Board Observer seats with several early-stage biotechnology companies. Her portfolio companies advanced programs from early discovery through regulatory approval milestones, including the recent January 2026 approval of Yuvezzi®.
Beyond her investment expertise, Ms. Johnson is a passionate advocate for diversity in venture capital. She co-founded Invest in Equity, a community dedicated to supporting female investors through professional development resources, networking events, and peer connections. Ms. Johnson earned a Master of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience from University College London and a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Bristol. She is based in Amsterdam.
